Of these, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is fully federally recognized, while the Lumbee Tribe holds partial federal recognition under the Lumbee Act of 1956.

To obtain a tribal enrollment card, you will need to contact the tribal government of your specific tribe. Each tribe has its own enrollment process and requirements. Generally, individuals must provide documentation of their family genealogy that demonstrates their connection to the tribe by blood or marriage.
Please note that the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs does not issue tribal enrollment cards. All enrollment matters must be handled directly with your tribe.
