About Title VI Indian Education
Wake County and Johnston County each have a Title VI Indian Education program. Each has one staff member to serve schools across Wake and Johnston counties. Each staff member provides supplemental academic assistance, counseling and cultural enrichment. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Education under Title VI – Indian, Native Hawaiian and Alaska Native Education.

Program and Services
Each Title VI Indian Education program supports schools by providing opportunities for Native students to meet and exceed academic and cultural standards. Each program coordinator seeks to assist families with navigating schools across Wake and Johnston counties.
Direct Services

Is your child eligible for Title VI services?
Are you, your child, or your child’s grandparent an enrolled member of an American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group? If so, your child may be able to enroll in the Title VI Indian Education program.
Enrollment will increase the opportunities available to your student. Title VI’s goal is to help Native students meet and exceed state academic and cultural standards.
Upon enrollment, your child will be eligible to participate in various K-12 programs, including:
Academic tutoring
Cultural enrichment activities
Summer enrichment programs
Scholarship fairs, and career and post-secondary training and exploration
Enrollment in the program does not obligate a student to participate.
